If you haven't been to Indiana's oldest bar, and if you like live blues at it's best, good food and really cool atmosphere, you need to treat yourself. I went over the weekend and seriously enjoyed all of it.
There was one wrinkle, I had my benchmade knife on my side - no firearm - thought it was covered by my shirt but I guess not. One bouncer, very polite, came over and asked me to take my knife back to my car. I asked him why and he said "because it's illegal".
Well, he was polite, and I understand he's got a job to do protecting the place. I told him I'd be glad to, but they're not illegal. I also told him it's legal to carry a firearm - not that I'm carrying one mind you - in a bar in Indiana. Told him he really should look into it and not take my word for it. I was nice and polite too, then took my benchmade out to my truck and returned. At the time I was having a very good time and didn't want to be asked to leave over a stupid misunderstanding. It kind of begs the question - How many bouncers out there don't know the law regarding knives? There are no posted signs in the Slippery regarding knives, guns, weapons at all - none that I could find.
That aside, EXCELLENT blues, food and a really good time.
