    So this is kinda interesting.

    2012 total votes: 65,915,795 (Obama) + 60,933,50 (Romney) = 126,846,299

    2016 total votes (current NYT reporting): 59,042,671 (Trump) + 59,181,266 (HRC) = 118,223,937

    Roughly 8M fewer votes.

    That seems meaningful.

Millennials and minorities didn't show up. Turnout was even higher in 2008 69.4M-Obama, 59.9M-McCain. I also think people stayed home, thinking Clinton had it sealed up.

A couple of times on Fox last night, one of them mentioned evangelicals turned out in the largest numbers since...Methuselah wore short pants.

Consider the possibility that a few of those votes not cast this time were because the busses of dead people didn't make it to the polls

I think it's more likely they stayed home because they couldn't stomach voting for her.

That was me. I voted though, but not for either of the two unscrupulous candidates from the major parties. I'm regretting my down ticket votes tho.

That is interesting. On TV they kept talking about historic turn out levels... That seems to have been a lie.

I think it is bigger than that.

Looking at the Republican side, Hamilton county voting is insightful, IMHO:
    Hamilton County Election Results

Every statewide Republican got more votes than Trump/Pence (87,299) and even the Congressional district outperformed them:
    Holcomb (90,266)
    Young (92,655)
    Hill (102,936) (dang!)
    McCormick (92,956)
    Brooks (102,857)

Trump won without traditional Republican support, with a mix of new (or at least hadn't voted in awhile) and crossover voters.

BTW, that impacts the polling. If a pollster calls and someone hasn't voted in a certain number of years (depends on the polling company), they aren't considered a likely voter. If Trump resurrected dormant voters, that could be a partial explanation of the polling problem.

I am feeling a bit rough from the amount of single barrel whiskey I drank last night.

What is lifting my spirits is not having to go on a 2nd amendment spending spree

I guess this post has no real substance to the thread..... and should just go in the status update.... but f it.

One good thing I can see is there will be a push to curtail executive powers. A whole lot of people are going to remember that Congress is supposed to make the laws.

I think the two are not mutually exclusive (not saying you were saying they were) - she doesn't have much appeal to minorities or millenials.

Well, I could have inaccurate information.

Also, I realized I wasn't factoring in the 3rd parties, who had about another 5M. So, the real delta is about 3M.

No problem from me. I'm hoping AR lowers drop down to pre-primary values. :D

Democrats for Trump! Also, it wasn't just "white people" like the lame stream media was blathering on about.

I also so on Drudge yesterday that ICE was arresting quite a few illegals that were in line to vote... which I thought was funny.

Totally agree on crossovers in places like MI, PA, and WI.

And, the continual race-baiting excuses is making me angrier and angrier. It doesn't always have to be about race.

Rural America voted in much higher numbers than in the past several elections. I think that's why we saw so many wins for Republicans down ballot. Polls didn't anticipate that. All I can say is, Buh bye Bayh.

I was expecting a Hillary win. And I was planning to go on an Ammo run this morning. I think I can hold off on that.

One good thing I can see is there will be a push to curtail executive powers. A whole lot of people are going to remember that Congress is supposed to make the laws.

I hope so. I am concerned Trumpers will want Trump to have more power.

Hopefully everything will go back down.
