Campbell’s Highland Grill in Greenwood shuttered last week.
Phil Campbell seems like a great guy, and his food and drinks were decent, but our experience with his wait staff was hit and miss. So, hard to say what the root cause was, but I'm sure COVID was a contributing factor.

My three or four trips in there were great. Food was perfect every time and I believe a young man named Tyler served us twice and did a great job. The first time was another server who was nothing to write home about, but got the job done.

The last two visits were with the guys and we closed the place down and spent quite a bit at the bar and the bartender took good care of us. It was a chill place to hang out and talk, not too busy and cool atmosphere. (It didn’t hurt that four out of the six of us Irish or Scottish heritage.) I didn’t know the owner, but I’m sure opening up when they did just didn’t even allow them to get a footing before covid did them in.

Holcomb cancelled the Big And Rich concert...

...The Boots & Black Tie Gala on Saturday, August 21 is still proceeding as scheduled. Tickets are $150 each... :n00b:

Ol’ RINO Holcomb (at least somebody in his entourage, anyway) probably saw the public backlash from the Socialist Birthday Party From Hell last week and rubbed two brain cells together to figure out that holding a large gathering while wagging your finger at people wasn’t a good look.

As punishment for the embarrassment, Indiana will now implement a full lockdown and mask mandate even in your homes.

Not that the place was amazing, but I've probably eaten more pseudo-Chinese food from this place than I have all of the others combined. It was less than 2 miles from the house growing up. It's also only now that I noticed they re-branded with an absolutely amazing name. It was branded as "Super China Buffet" previously, which is also a name that ruled.

It's been gone for over a year, so maybe a re-post.

    That's a very good point!

Wonder if the gov will make a mask mandate for his "inauguration ball."

    City/County just did for court...

Word on the street is that the Indiana Court of Appeals has ruled that the state can end enhanced unemployment benefits. Looking for the decision.

    [ETA]

Very long story short, the court found that Indiana law does not require the state to participate in the CARES Act programs. This is kinda obvious, but politics rules the day at the trial court.

    [ETA]

Here it is, all 16 pages of it:

    This is good news!

Wasn't the federal program due to run out in September?

Looks like the tax on stupid is doing very well...

Wonder how much of this increase is 'rona money?

    .
But, but, but.... you can't win if you don't play!

I remember stories where, early on in Indiana's lottery experience, people would round up all the money they had and buy lots of tickets when the jackpots were relatively high. It never occurred to them that the odds of winning with 1,000 tickets were really, in objective terms, not much greater than one ticket.

Or, in other words, 1,000 in eighty million is really not that much greater than one in eighty million.

Sure, the likelihood of winning is 1,000 times greater when you buy 1,000 tickets, but still pretty infinitesimal.

My old boss/biz partner was an engineering genius, but a financial disaster.

I'll never forget "us" being out of money, me not getting paid and him coming up with a lottery ticket. "This is my one last chance..." :xmad:
