U dont stream or watch youtube hu

I watch youtube, but usually stuff that is 20 minutes long or less (mostly how-to videos or the occasional video that gets posted on here (if it's not more than 15 or 20 minutes tops). But no, I don't stream anything. Honestly I don't know how that works. Probably why I still have cable. :):

    Streaming is like cable.
You pay a company a monthly subscription which allows you to log into their website/digital library and watch any of the tv shows, movies, original content (shows/movies) they have.

You can watch it via any device that can connect to the internet. Phone, tablet, computer, smart tv.

It's what CABLE use to be at the very beginning.
Remember when cable would say no commercial, just content.
That was its reason for being to avoid the commercials.

Stream is now that. You can get on Netflix and watch a whole season of a tv show with NO commercials. Same with a movie, all commercial free.

I guess I should have said I know "what" streaming is, but I have no idea how to log in to the internet with my tv. It's a smart tv. It just has a dumb user.

    OK boomer. :p
The remote is your friend but also a PITA (the first time around) if you go to menu most new TV have a "streaming" section with the popular sites (hulu, Netflix, etc) using the remote you enter your account info and it logs you in.

So I don't need some kind of thumb drive-ish thingy like a Firestick or whatever? I see the one I'm watching now has a "Media" section which I assume is what I'd use it for. And yes, logging in with a remote does seem like it would be a PITA. Kind of like texting on a flip phone?

Marques Brownlee did a hands-on with the new Galaxy S20 and S20+ Samsung phones... with a later video on the S20 Ultra.

Yup. Audio and video (even worse) are the most common reasons for high data usage.

Yup. I love it when we call our abusers to inquire about why their company provided cell data bills are so high. (we have pools of data, and sometimes a user will gobble up an entire group's pool, causing overages)

"Huh. I dont know. I do send a lot of emails from home where I dont actually have any internet. That must be it." Then after more in depth probing, we learn that he found out about his data on his phone, decided he no longer needed to pay for his own internet, and would tether all of his family's devices to it. And then proceed to have two Rokus, Three ipod touches (multimedia player), and two ipads where the entire family is streaming multiple streams of Netflix, Youtube etc every night and weekend. Oops.

Hah. Haven't had anyone try that... that we know of... did have a guy hit one sub-account with a $1700 overage. Says he didn't know how.

We issued a policy shortly after that all data usage over 10gb will be coming from the user's expenses.

Haven't had an overage since. Quite a drop in usage, actually. Funny how that works.

But... but.. 10gb is too little!!
How are they gonna see all that porn and gamble.

Then they can come into the office and soak up the wifi traffic.

One lady watched Netflix all day, every day. Couple hundred gigs a month. On a tiny cell phone.

She's no longer with us. Probably an unrelated reason.

I do occasionally shape the traffic for some of the higher wifi users if I'm feeling frisky.

Crazy pricing. I refuse to pay that much for a phone that's likely going to need replaced within 3 years anyway. I do research and try to find the best deal, preferring to stay well under $500. So far I've been lucky and have been able to meet my needs in the $300 - $400 range.

The problem is the current young phone users generation, the "me right now" have no issue "paying" for this phone at this price point.

They are use to having massive debt and being on a payment plan for life. So most will get this on the same payment plan of $60 to $90 a month for 30 months with service.

And then they'll complain that they "need" more "free" stuff.
