The idea here is that the cable used to charge has been compromised. It now has the ability to pull info from your phone and stream it via Bluetooth to a malicious actor. Bluetooth is not wired, but that is the exfiltration vector. Even if you plug into a wall outlet, the electricity powers both the BlueTooth transmitter, and the circuit that is pulling data from your device.

The USB condom wouldn't stop that because it would be transmitting before getting to the condom.

Yes, ^^^This^^^ It's not a normal cable, but one that has been specifically designed as a hacking device, yet look like a normal harmless cable.

The condom plugs into the USB port but has no data carrying pins or they're blocked, only the power carrying pins are enabled when you plug a USB cable into the condom

I kinda think "truck" culture isn't gonna be their main customers. It's not very practical as a work truck. Looks like it might go off road well for some uses.

I like the concept of electric vehicles, I think they're very cool, and Tesla has proven that they are ready for the road for practical uses. They're good commuters, and because of improving distribution of charging stations, they're okay on long trips. I know a few people at work who own Teslas and they use them for commuting and traveling, and they really like them. But the technology just isn't there for work vehicles. EV's are very powerful, with crazy torque. But load them up with much weight and they just aren't practical. If you want to tow locally, you're probably fine. But if you want to pull your toyhauler out west, forget it. TFL did a video where they tried to tow a fairly light trailer with a Model X something like 2K miles, and ended up scrapping the trip because they had to charge 1 hour for every 2-3 hours of driving.

Off road, it looks like it would do pretty well stock. I doubt it has great articulation, but with the big cleaty tires, excellent approach, break-over, departure angles, and ground clearance, it should go most anywhere a stock Jeep could go. Being electric it kinda the same problem for off-road applications as work uses. It uses too much power doing any serious off-roading (TFL did a video with their Model X on that too). If you have to drive it home after wheeling all day, that could be a challenge. If there's a super charger nearby I guess you could charge while eating out for dinner.

Anyway, I seriously doubt it would appeal to the people who buy pickup trucks now. Maybe if you only use your truck to commute. The price point makes it appealing, starting at only $39K, but to use it as a truck, I'd have to give it a hard pass if I were looking.

But what about the vehicle for Doc Braun and Martha in the upcoming woke gender diverse sequel to the Back to the Future trilogy

I don't think that can be a truck, even an EV truck. Maybe a Prius. Elon Musk is problematic, therefore none of his vehicles are permitted.

Oh. BTW, he got a pretty good comment in during the Cybertruck reveal on California gun control. To demonstrate how durable the Truck's body is, he had someone hit the door panel with a sledge hammer. After that, he asked, so what else can we do to it. Oh, let's shoot it! Then he quipped something about not in California. I couldn't really hear exactly what he said but it sounded like he was poking at California gun laws.

Anyway he showed a video of what he said was a 9mm round hitting a body panel, and it did not go through it. Not sure I buy it, because the video looked very edited. But whatever.

They can't be serious. Part of me says Elon is trolling us.

The other part of me wonders what happens when it hits 88 Mph

Musk claimed that the body panels are made of the same stainless steel/alloy whatever whooptee doo space age panels they use for their rockets. I don't think he said how think they were but they did hit the door with a sledge hammer without denting it. So I'm guessing those panels don't bend easily. That angular thing they came up with is probably because they can't really do much forming of the panels. The truck doesn't have a frame. The body shell provides the strength.
