Does manufacturing a suppressor for your own use have to be made by your own two hands or can you have the parts made and assemble them yourself? Once you get the stamp of course.
You need to do it with your own two hands, or you need to be present while the parts are being made. BATFE says that even one baffle constitutes a suppressor in and of itself. Anyone else being in posession of one of these without the registered owner present is in violation of the law.
I would agree, having done it once myself. You can have someone else make the parts as long as you are there and take immediate possession of the finished components.
Naturally I'm intrigued.... Over the years I have been fascinated with silencers and the like. I've seen plans on the internet and the books at gun shows, but never pulled the trigger (so to speak) on making one. Is there a real, viable, legal alternative to the BATF process that actually works? I'm your average homeowner - a few tools, no machine shop.
I apologize if this horse has already been kicked to death.
