MUNCIE - City police say a convicted bandit got more than he bargained for when he tried to hold up a southside liquor store late Friday.

Authorities said Anthony J. Williams, 47, was shot in the pelvic region as he struggled with a female clerk over possession of a handgun.

Williams is not a stranger to local authorities. According to state Department of Correction records, his criminal record includes convictions for robbery (in 1991), dealing in cocaine (1996) and resisting law enforcement (1990).

    OH, the link isn't working.

Sounds like the occupational hazards of being a criminal finally caught up with him.

Too bad the struggle didn't result in a bullet in the head.... At least now the arthritis in his hip will remind him of his bad choice in a career.

Unsecured gun, out in the open where he could reach for it.

I'm glad this clerk was able to act and defend herself, but I sure do question the method of carry. It doesn't seem like a system I'd want to rely on.
