    and post #303. ;)

I see....I forgot that research you did.

That's one of the problems with these long threads, that go one over a long period of time. When you click that link that sends you to your first unread post, it's easy to forget posts that have already been addressed.

One of our members, NIFT, messaged me with a few points of interest, things I had not made note of, such as that while Maine (among others) does not recognize non-resident permits from other states, they do issue their own, and that MD and NJ do likewise, though theirs are very difficult to obtain.

OK, so our LTCH covers us to carry according to the laws of the state we happen to be in in 28 states. How can we carry in the other 22 (if at all?)

Do remember that to carry a firearm in these other jurisdictions, their local laws apply. Some forbid carry in places that, to us, seem counterintuitive and even idiotic. Their laws do not have to make sense to us, any more than our own do, we still must follow them or risk fines, imprisonment, and loss of the future ability to lawfully possess firearms.

My thanks to Bob for his bringing this information out.

    Blessings,
    Bill

    carry Permits

I was just browsing and came across this. I am new to the site and was really pleased to see all the states that honored carry permits. A little late on the posting but thanks for the info!

That's great news. I'm going on a trip to pick up my mother-in-law in Florida in a couple of months, and it's nice to know I'll be able to keep my Glock on me most of the way down, and not locked up in the bed of my truck.

Hmm.. So if a state, such as Virginia, does not require a permit for OC, does that mean that technically we can carry there? I didn't see anything about residency requirements.

It's up to the laws of that state. I'm not aware of any that have residency requirements to OC, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. You might call the VA State Police and ask them if they can tell you the cite for the VA law regarding OC or CC. If they refuse, contact the state Attorney General, and if you still get nowhere, look online.

Normally, I'd advise you to contact an attorney and check this out. If there are any on INGO who are licensed to practice in VA, I don't know who they are.

    Good luck!

    Blessings,
    Bill

I hold certain licenses that allow me to practice anywhere...

Does this mean my Michigan concealed pistol license is good for me to carry concealed when I drive through Indiana next weekend? Just want to make sure I understand this right, I would hate to holster my gun drive 200miles then get arrested for it.
