A 7.62 Exodus
Expert
Well, i recently was able to pick up a 1943 Izzy. Last weekend, i was able to break it down and clean that sucker REAL good. Here are some pics of the event.
Breaking the bolt down. I scrubbed it with a rag, and then used boiling water to get out the stuff deep inside the mechanism.
It is a VERY nice dark color, which is exactly what i wanted in my mosin. Heres a pic running down the side of the gun
Well, after i got the gun apart, and the bolt nice and clean, i got to the bore. The rifling is very much present, and the bore is in great shape
Another one of the bore
The only MAJOR cosmetic issue with the gun is what appears to be a smearing of what could be the seal put on the stock
Head space test...looking good
Here is one of the stamping. My finger is covering the serial ###, just ignore it
All of the wood on the rifle is original, all excapt a VERY small replacement piece towards the end of the barrel.
Another view.
At this point, the rifle is nice and clean, so everything begins to be put back together
Look at the nice shine on this baby!
Here it is, all clean and ready to go!
Just a couple of notes, the thing is sealed like rubber. When the bolt is locked and you tap on the barrel, you can hear a nice "popping" sound. The same thing goes for when a round it place in the barrel. When I slid on in, i could hear the thing seal. I can't wait to take this thing out for a spin! Alright, i did mine, now it's your turn DeadeyeChrista'sDad to get that Tula review up!
