I'm a ham radio operator and a trained Skywarn spotter and the best radio to get is whatever will receive the Skywarn frequencies for your and the surrounding counties. Especially the counties to the South and West of you as storms in Indiana traditionally move in a Northeastern direction. The best part about these frequencies is that you will hear live spotters and get weather updates faster than the National Weather Service can send them out. With it being storm season right now, I always have a radio with me.
