    1. is it true that 9mm silencers can and are used for .380?

    2. if you own a handgun of both calibers, both with threaded barrels, can they both be fitted with the same silencer(im aware of the 200$ stamp for purchase of the silencer) legally (obviously not at the same time) or do you register each gun?

    :dunno:

perhaps this should have been in the class 3 thread

Yeah... The NFA area would have been better.
    But to answer your questions.

Yes you can run .380 out of a 9mm can.
And yes only the can is subject to the tax.
You can use it on whatever host you would like.

Don't listen to friends, listen to the internet. But seriously, the silencer itself (or suppressor some may argue), is legally a firearm entity in itself. Therefore, once legally possessed may be used on any host.

Today, I heard that "machine guns are illegal to have as a civilian, no matter what". You'll learn all sorts of untrue facts if you listen to the advice of people who know nothing on the subject except what they've heard.

Agree. You can run sub-caliber hand guns through a suppressor. Just double check with your suppressor's manufacturer for some ammo (e.g., 45 suppressor running 10mm out of it....huge pressure difference). 380 out of a 9mm shouldn't be an issue at all.
