I recently bought a Sig Sauer P229 SAS 40 calibur pistol with a DAK trigger system. I have not fired the pistol yet. The gun does not have a de-cocker on it. How do you lower the hammer so that it can be safely holstered after chambering the first round?

DAOs like the DAK will automatically lower the hammer. If the hammer were ever actually cocked, it would be a single action (SA) rather than a double action (DA), and would defeat the whole purpose of the DAK system.

In other words, when you rack and release the slide the hammer should follow it back down, not stay back in a cocked position. If it does cock, then the pistol has something wrong with it and should be sent back to SIG.

It's true. There is no need for a decocker on a SIG DAK because it is not possible for the hammer to be in a cocked position.
