Depends on whether you are using a handgun (which requires a License To Carry Handgun) anywhere off your property, including brining it home from being purchased.
Long guns do not require anything.
IC 35-47-2-2
Excepted persons
Sec. 2. Section 1 of this chapter does not apply to:
*snip*
(11) any person while carrying a handgun unloaded and in a secure wrapper from the place of purchase to his dwelling or fixed place of business, or to a place of repair or back to his dwelling or fixed place of business, or in moving from one dwelling or business to another.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32.
so i dont need one for a 22 or a 12gauge
As long as the 22 is a rifle, not a handgun.so i dont need one for a 22 or a 12gauge
I did not know that. I've seen so many times it said that you DID have to have a license to even bring it home. The IC provides an exception for unlicensed carry when bringing it home from the place of purchase.
I *think* it has to be shorter than 16" too, but I am just talking off the top of my head. and it is pointy.....If the long gun has a pistol grip only, then you need a LTCH.
Just make sure that they are that other person's handgun(s). Just make sure...What if someone didn't have a LTCH but went shooting handguns with someone who had their LTCH?

Revolver Liberation Alliance?...I get it, your one of those round earth nuts! Get past the muth the earth is flat and has 4 corners...sheesh just when you think people have finally learned not to trust the government somebody else falls to the masses of false thought!...lolThere is also a target and hunting permit which allows you to carry your handgun back and forth to the range as well as for carrying while hunting. However it is the same amount of effort to get it as it is to get a LTCH. It is a little bit cheaper and for someone under 21 may be easier to get approval on.

Lets see, the non licensed non-LEO person:What if someone didn't have a LTCH but went shooting handguns with someone who had their LTCH?
Lets see, the non licensed non-LEO person:
1) has possession of a handgun (you handed it to him)
2) Is not in his home or fixed place of business (you're at the range)
3) Does not have a LTCH
Kinda looks like a violation, no matter how unlikely it is to get caught.
