Oh my. I would give them kudos if they taught the kids "grab anything you can to throw at the shooter, run, etc" rather than "huddle in the classroom like a target". But actually pretending that this is a GOOD weapon and/or having the kids mistakingly think the can might be more helpful than escape is well.... embarrassing at the least.

Better hope the school gets attacked in the morning. They're going to need those canned goods to supplement the nutritional content of the Michelle Obama-approved school lunch.

Sensible can control is the answer.
Agreed. No sharp edges. And they'll have to stop selling the large cases at Costco. Who really needs that many cans of tomatoes at once anyway? If they don't run a commercial kitchen they can reload their pantry next Saturday.

Well, it clearly says it must be an 8 oz. can. Does that mean people will start stockpiling and hoarding 8 oz. cans? Every time I read something as insane as this, I'm suddenly glad I'm older and no longer have kids in the school system. I remember when the school taught my daughter that alcohol is a drug. For a short time, I couldn't drink a beer without hearing that I was doing drugs!

Sir! No one NEEDS a 40 oz. can of pork and beans. When the Bill of Rights was written they didn't have 40 oz. cans of pork and beans.

Who are you guys to tell me what size cans I need or don't need? Next you'll be telling me that just because you don't like canned peas I shouldn't be able to own can peas!
