I was in Kenya a couple years ago and I saw a wide variety of guns among the soldiers I saw. They included AK's, old M-16's that looked like A-1
s with the triangular hand guards, and FAL's. All were well worn, and looked pretty much like they were in terrible condition. These were not front line troops, btw. They were troops hired by stores, banks, and such, to stand guard. I'm sure their front line folks are much better equipped.

I know they have found STG-44's in Syria. Not sure if both sides are using them, or just rebels. Boy I'd love to have one of those! Some were alleged to have been never issued before they pulled them out of the crates.

The MP 3008 in the name of this beasty. I guess if your manufacturing sector is getting bombed in the daylight by the USAAF and nighttime by Bomber Harris's boys a Sten copy makes sense. The Germans liked the Russian 120mm mortar so much the made their own copy(12 cm Granatwerfer 42) and ammo for the ones they captured.

Operation Just Cause, the Panamanian Defense Forces (PDF) had U.S. supplied M-16's and M-60 MG's. It really sucked being shot at with our own weapons when we started expanding the AO from the airport.
