Hey guys, quick question. I am thinking of heading over to the Roush Lake shooting range since it is the closest public range I can find near Fort Wayne. Anyways, this will be my first time at the range. I have only shot in my backyard (and the Marine Corps...) since I live out in the country. Would this be a good "starter" range? Any tips on what to do, and not to do?
Also, I have a XDM .45 and a .556 AR-15 - will I be able to shoot both of these at the range?
Thanks,
Jordan
I'm not going back after today (and past experience).
The place was packed, and the range master didn't know what muzzling was when I brought it up to him.
Time to pay up and join hillside I think.
You can't carry there as its on federal property. Also, check out Izaak Walton. It is members only ($5 guest fee with a member). It is kind of expensive for a year, but they have a large very nice range out to 100 yards and as close as 7 yards. Fishing, camping, hiking, skeet/trap shooting, archery, etc. If you want an outdoors experience this is the place. If you want an occasional shooting range, I wouldnt suggest it ($150ish I think).

You could also go to Hillside Shooting Sports in Roanoke, it is a little more expensive but in my opinion a better range, they have pistol range, steel target range, and a rifle range out to 1000 yds. Google it and you will find the website, it is a well run range.
The Corp of Engineers runs the dam.
