Don't hunt it much, but I'm not finding beer cans and smoke packages around the property, I would imagine anything here is gone.

Between the holes and trash I found in the past I came to that conclusion, it's all gone or the neighbor who died in the trailer fire last year was the problem. Either way there's no more activity.:dunno:

Huh... I've seen that plant my whole life, and never realized it was Ginseng. I guess I just confused its berry cluster with jack in the pulpit, and never really examined them very closely.

I dug ginseng one year, but soon found that I could make tons more money digging goldenseal (yellow root). I can dig one dried pound of goldenseal an hour and have places I could dig as much as I felt like digging. I used to sell it for $40-42 a pound, so I haven't bothered digging it at the lesser prices I've seen the last few years.

What are the lesser prices? What is ginseng bringing now?

I'd say probably $18-20 a pound for dried goldenseal. I have no idea on ginseng. I only dug it one year and was lucky to get a pound out of a few hundred 3-prong or larger plants. Maybe the roots are small in my area. Lol!
