Hey guys, anniversary coming up and I would like to take the SO to a romantic cabin somewhere nearby. This is not a significant anniversary so it doesn't need to be really special. I tried looking online but it was tough to find something. I was thinking no more than 2 days and preferably a reasonable rate. Any ideas? The closer to Ft. Wayne the better, but up to 1 1/2 hour drive would be acceptable. Thanks for any suggestions.

Brown County would be about 2.5-3hrs from Ft Wayne but its worth the drive. There are a ton of cabins or bed and breakfast types of accomedations in Nashville. Plenty of "wife stuff" to do.

Think Chain O' Lakes State Park has some cabins up your way, also Mississinewa . check out this Indiana DNR web site:
DNR - Division of State Parks & Reservoirs: Family Cabins
Might help you out some and earn them all important brownie points.

Spring Mill park inn, but they don't have cabins. There are TWO hunting presearves with in 10 miles of there. Sugar Creek has trap and skeet ranges and a sporting clays range.

Lost River has some shotgun sports ranges and they also do put and take bird hunts all year.

"Antique stores in Mitchell Orleans, Paoli, West Baden, and French Lick. Oh! Wowee honey bunns. Looky there. I didn't know there was a Casino in French Lick!" might want to practice looking surprised. French lick is really cool for history bugs even if ya don't gamble.

While not a cabin per se, the Scholars Inn in Bloomington used to be a B&B specializing in romantic dinners for two along with a night's stay. I try that, good for brownie points!;)

My wife and I stayed at KOA in South Bend one night... they have the Kamping Kabins... which she really enjoys. I don't know if they have the Kabins with private showers, but I think so.

In the morning we went to South Bend Chocolate Factory and took the tour. My wife's in love with chocolate.

The evening before we went to Amish Acres in Nappannee(?) and had dinner at the barn... you'll never eat better.

Pokagon State Park in Angola, IN, up in the NE corner of the State is a very sweet place to go in the Winter time. However, they don't have that many cabins and usually they are book months in advanced. I would call them anyway, they could have a cancellation. I highly recommend Pokagon.

They even have a bob sled run they ice over in the Winter. Enjoy!

Yep, they do fill up fast. If you happen to scoop up a cancellation and you're there this weekend, we'll likely cross paths. :yesway:

The kids are gone. We have spare bedroom upstairs with a shower. Decorated like a trapper's cabin; bear skin rug on the floor, antelope on the wall, rabbit pelt with an old trap on it lying on top of a chest of drawers. We'll even prep your breakfast and you can even come down and watch tv with the wife and I. You'll have great security.

On a serious note my wife and I discussed placing about three cabins on our place as a supplemental income after I retire. We border Morgan Monroe so there's always wildlife to be seen and we are far enough off the road that nobody would bother anyone still only 5 miles out of town. These would be one room cabins. Anyone think it might ber worth the effort?
