    Hello,
I am wondering if these guns are OK. I have an OLD 700 adl in a .222 and it's been a great gun. I was in D1cks sporting goods and noticed this gun for 499.00 with a cheap scope on it. and i think remington has a 40.00 rebate on this so for 450.00 sounds OK any advice?
    Thanks

Nice guns for the money. I bought one of their 308 rifles that was a BDL.
I am not sure what the twist is on the 223's. If it is a 12 twist, your are restricted to 55 grain and lighter bullets. If it is a 9 twist, you should be able to shoot up to 75 grain.

i had one chambered in .270, loved it wish i hadnt sold it. 450 aint bad, does it come with for a scope? I know i picked up a real nice scope for mine and it was awesome and i could shoot easily to 600 yrds and it was pretty accurate at that distance.

I have the SPS Varmint in 243 and it is a great gun. It is very accurate. I did change the stock on it as well as bedded the action and free floated the barrel. The scope on the package deals are really throw away also, but they will work... for a while... maybe.

    Hello,
I have an OLD 700 adl in a .222 and it's been a great gun.

In my opinion, the new rifle is going to feel cheap and rougher than a cob as compared to your old one.

It'll likely shoot as good, up to the point of even MUCH better - but the overall exterior finish/machine work has gotten pretty rough on them (particularly the matte blued/parked varmint/tactical/ADL models) in the last 10 years or so.

Nothing a few hours worth of working the action and polishing followed by some cold bluing won't correct (for the most part).

If you're looking for a change I'd suggest having a skilled gunsmith rebarrel it for you. Wouldn't cost much more, you'd see accuracy improve (unless your .222 was a tack driver) and you could have it rebarrelled in .223.

Just a thought. The Rem700 is a great rifle, I prefer the older rifles. No real reason, only perceived. The old ones just "feel" nicer to me. My .308 is built on a 6 digit, no letter prefix receiver. Still shoots like a dream and has lots of life left.

if you're gonna spend that kind of money better off getting a savage or howa, you'll have a better rifle too.
