Does anyone have any suggested reading or available training courses or even Youtube videos for how to spot better? I'd like to learn how to read wind and mirage better for highpower rifle competitions.

    Thanks.

First learn to read wind without a scope. Then use the scope to see the mirage make your notes, compare. Sometimes you can not get a mirage, either the weather or poor equipment can prevent it. Go to a High Power match and just ask the top shooters to help. We have a few real good ones on INGO lilrat and sloghfoot have lots of knowledge and experience.

no expert at this by any means but you could give this a shot, i have compiled a bit of info from related websites to help me.

for flags or dropping dirt/grass from waistlevel? divide the angle by 4 and it gives you a pretty good estimation & than correct it for direction

    Angle/4 = Wind Speed (mph)

    MPH x C = Adjusted MPH

    Wind direction = C
    90* = 1
    65* = .9
    45* = .75
    30* = .5
    15* = .25
    0* = 0
