Purdue bowl game: WTF?

I am not a Purdue grad, but neither am I an enemy. When Indiana schools make it to a bowl game or other high-profile event, I will be a homer and root for them, knowing the effort it takes for these young people to achieve their goals.

But I have to ask, WTF was Purdue thinking going for it on a 4th down from their own 35 in the 1st quarter? That is just plain STUPID.

I know it really doesn't matter if they win/lose the bowl. They've realized the revenue by making the game and can use it for recruiting purposes.
