While it's not a "precision" rifle, it gets the job done at 500-700 yards.

I just finished putting my Mossberg MVP in 5.56 with a 20" fluted barrel into it's new chassis. I've had the rifle for a little while, but just recently picked up the MDT LSS Chassis. The new chassis is a bit heavier than the original laminated stock, but I don't feel like I am holding a kid's .22 Cricket when I pick the thing up now. I do think there are areas they could have removed a bit more material though, to lighten it up a bit.

I was undecided on what stock I wanted to go with, so for the time being I went the economical route and threw a Magpul MOE mil-spec stock on it. I didn't opt for FDE, but went that route because I got a deal on the chassis from another member on here. One thing I did notice when I got the chassis is that the ergonomics of the AR magazine release aren't as great as they are on an actual AR, this is why I installed an ODIN Works extended magazine release. The extended release doesn't make it perfect, but it's a lot better now and didn't break the bank.

Short of maybe swapping to a different stock, the only other things I would like to do are a larger bolt knob and have the muzzle threaded.

    MDT LSS Chassis in FDE
    Trijicon Acupoint 3-9x40
    Hogue Grip

Anderson Manufacturing mil-spec buffer tube and castle nut
Magpul MOE mil-spec stock in FDE
    Harris Bi-pod

Looks pretty "precision" to me and very distinctive looking rifle! Nice.

Have you had a chance to see how it performs?
    Thanks.

I haven't had the chance to take it out yet. I got the chassis early last week, but didn't have the stock, buffer tube, and grip until today. It performed pretty well with the OE stock, so I hope it does much better with the new chassis.

Ramrod, that thing is awesome! Precision guns are usually such big heavy affairs, it's neat to see a "light precision" style rifle! Have you had a chance to weigh the finished product?

Not yet, but I am curious what it weighs. I may sneak it into work on Wednesday and throw it on the shipping scale real quick.

Why did it take 2.5 years?

Waiting list.... JAE had 10 month wait when I ordered and somewhere inbetween that time and now they moved to an expanded factory and hired a business consultant to stream-line them. Lots of people are complaining about them.

Best advice I can give anyone who wants to buy is to wait and don't worry. They aren't crooks.

They do have a couple distributors now that sell pre-configured packages if you don't want to wait. Since I ordered they've increased their prices by about 20% though. If you want anything custom, it's going to take time.

Those stocks are freaking awesome, and you're a better man than me. Not sure I'd have the patience needed for it.
What's the rest of the build going to be?

I ordered the barrel tensioner with the stock. (that nub of black on the tip allows you to adjust barrel tension)

The guts will be a Springfield M1A Loaded. (NM Medium Weight Barrel, NM Trigger, NM Irons & Flash Suppressor)

I also have an Atlas Bipod, Monopod, a Sadlak NM Spring Guide, and Sadlak scope mount American Defense QD Rings. All I need is glass, which will probably end up being some flavor of a Vortex PST.

The best 2 things you can do to improve any M1A is to put in a match spring guide and put her in a good stock. This stock is about the best thing on the market for M1A's. (or rem. 700's for that matter) JAE makes an incredible product. It's worth the price and the wait.

I could not resist getting something personal tatooed on her cheek rest.
