I had not seen this reported elsewhere, but it adds some context.
Turkey coup: National security takes a blow - BBC News

In addition to numerous one- and two-star generals, the alleged conspirators include Adem Huduti, who commanded the 2nd Army.
The 2nd Army has the task of protecting the most perilous borders - with Syria, Iraq and Iran - and leads the fight against the Kurdish militant PKK in south-eastern Turkey. So the attempted coup may have a considerable impact on Turkey's ongoing fight against the PKK

So, the leader of the army tasked to fight the Kurds decided that Erdogan's strategy was not proper. To me, that makes it seem more plausible that the more moderate military people were either behind the coup or targeted for retribution.

Also strikes me that a Man In The Middle (MITM) strategy could've induced this coup.

Turkey coup attempt: Who's the target of Erdogan's purge? - BBC News

    Purgers gonna purge.

The sheer numbers are sobering. Some 9,000 people are in custody and many more are out of a job. Although accurate details are difficult to come by, this is the current list:

    • 7,500 soldiers have been detained, including 118 generals and admirals
    • 8,000 police have been removed from their posts and 1,000 arrested
    • 3,000 members of the judiciary, including 1,481 judges, have been suspended
    • 15,200 education ministry officials have lost their jobs
    • 21,000 private school teachers have had their licences revoked
    • 1,577 university deans (faculty heads) have been asked to resign
    • 1,500 finance ministry staff have been removed
    • 492 clerics, preachers and religious teachers have been fired
    • 393 social policy ministry staff have been dismissed
    • 257 prime minister's office staff have been removed
    • 100 intelligence officials have been suspended
The list may be incomplete because the situation is constantly changing. But it is clear that the purge has affected well over 58,000 people.

Also read that educators have been banned from traveling overseas.

    Permissive action link

They can't use them if they take them

And if they take them its war, which will go about as well for them as it did for Saddam in '90

From open source links. Command Disable Feature of B-61 Bomb.

The B61 also features a "command disable" mechanism, which functions as follows: after entering the correct 3-digit numeric code it is then possible to turn a dial to "DI" and pull back a T-shaped handle which comes away in the user's hand. This action releases a spring-loaded firing pin which fires the percussion cap on an MC4246A thermal battery, powering it up. Electrical power from the thermal battery is sufficient to "fry" the internal circuitry of the bomb, destroying critical mechanisms without causing detonation. This makes the bomb incapable of being used. Any B61 which has had the command disable facility used must be returned to Pantex for repair.[SUP][

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B61_nuclear_bomb

    [/SUP]http://www.glennsmuseum.com/controller/controller.html

Even if disabled, the weapon could be disassembled and the physics package could be used to make a new bomb. It would not be an overnight process, but I am sure Pakistan would be glad to lend some technical assistance, while financed by the Gulf nations.
