That is something I could never understand; when our outgoing POTUS was asked about his declining popularity he blamed racism. Is there racism in America? Absolutely. But anyone with racist views was not going to vote for him or approve of what he was doing anyway. For his approval to drop people who supported hi must have had to turn their backs on him. Rather than critically look at the reasons for this revocation of support the mantra was that to disagree with him was to be racist. It wasn't that people disagreed with his policies, deeds, or the direction he was taking the country. Instead suddenly the people who voted him into the highest office in the land realized that he was not white and tanked his approval ratings.
