My guess is that even though the PD has no obligation according to the Supremes, the individual officers are still obligated to perform to department standards, eliminating the foundation for a lawsuit. This underscored the importance of not being dependent on the PD for your safety, and also that no one takes your well-being as seriously as you do, even when they are trying, and exponentially less so when they are not.

In these 'times' in America. under normal circumstances regarding self-defense and the security of your family and property..... especially in urban areas..... you need to be armed and prepared, to kick a$$ and take names later.

    Just sayin'......

Glad to see how quickly Internal Affairs was able to address this issue....18 months after the offenses were recorded.

These officers were fired, but I wonder if they'll sue the city for firing them when they have no legal requirement to rush to a crime scene....

There's no legal requirement to show up to work on time every day, either, but you can certainly be fired for excessive tardiness.

Dereliction of duty is certainly something you can be fired for, and it looks like that's exactly what those guys were engaged in.
