i know several officers of different agencies

Morgan County Deputy carries Glock 23 .40
Indiana State Trooper carries Glock 22 .40
FBI Agent carries Glock 21 .45ACP
US Marshal stationed in Indy carries Kimber Custom II .45ACP

FBI and US Marshals are authorized to carry M&P 40, Glock 22, Glock 23 by federal contract. If an Agent or Marshal is carrying a 21 or 1911, it would be a personal purchase.

Special teams (HRT, etc) are a different story and carry what is chosen by the team and authorized by the agency. They are typically only carried when operating as a team.

ISP only carried the G22 for a short time before switching to the 17. ISP is one of the agencies that discovered the reliability issues with the G22 Gen IIIs both with and with out light attached. Due to the fact they had already purchased leather for the G22s, they went with the G17.

Our Gen 3 Glock 22's would not function with a light attached to them. Glock knows they have a problem with them and IMO did not address the issue. Our new Glock 22 Gen 4's will function with any light I have tried so far.

IMPD can't have keltec 380's or sig 380's but can carry the tarus 380 (which has the same issue as the keltec) the ruger lcp, and the kahr. Most carry a glock 27 though as a back up.

IIRC, this thread already exists. A couple years ago this topic came up and the list was quite comprehensive. Maybe do a search combine the results and/or the threads?

It is probably a lot different now than even a few years ago. Seems like agencies are always changing.

Actually, the only .380 we can carry are Beretta, Ruger, Sig, & Walther. I'm looking at the approved list issued Jan '10. The only Taurus allowed are .38/.357 & the only Kahr are .40, .45, & 9mm.

    I carried a G27 as a BUG until I switched to a G21 as my duty weapon so now I use a G30sf.
