Yes. I had to explain to my sister in law that we are states united under a federal government, not a nation with state boundaries. That there is a reason why some powers were defined as being in the federal government's purview, and the rest were kept by the states. That's why overturning Roe v. Wade was the correct decision. It is not within the federal government's authority to regulate. And it is the united States plural, not singular.
I do it whenever I hear it in conversation.Biden repeated this lie so many times tonight. Of course he would, because he's a democrat. Don't let anyone you know repeat this lie.
We are a Constitutional Republic, and if you don't know the difference, please research it.
I have also taken to suggesting to our State Attorney General he work with other like minded States to begin suing the Federal Government using the Preamble to the BoRs and Ninth and Tenth Amendments. The States need to grow a pair and push back as have some of their citizens.Yes. Generally "democracy" refers to a form of government where the political power is held by the people. We call our nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. And I get it, in real life, those are merely platitudes spoken by politicians of the day. We function more like an oligarchy. But officially, the people have the power to choose representatives to make laws. That makes the US generally a democracy. It's retarded to deny that part of it. Were also a republic in that we don't have a monarchy. The form of Republic is democratic, because the people who have power to make laws are delegated from the people as their representatives. That's a democratic process. it's not wrong to call that a democracy. It's just more specific to call us a Constitutional Republic, because our constitution dictates the democratic means by which government representatives are chosen. We are both a Constitutional Republic and a Representative Democracy. The terms are NOT mutually exclusive, and neither of them adequately explains that our government consists of elected representatives that are supposed to be limited by a constitution. The term "Republic" merely indicates that we don't have a monarchy or similar concentration of power, but fails to indicate that we have elected representatives, so it is inadequate. Likewise, democracy fails to indicate that we have constitutional limitation on government power. Constitutional Representative Democracy would be a better description.
Or, maybe the difference is less than you thought and it really was C work?LOL I got a c in history when I did A work because the teacher didn't know the difference. And I was an insufferable smart aleck. Not like now.
"Because, ya see here. 'Murica is NOT A DEMOCRACY. We're a Republic!"I do it whenever I hear it in conversation.
I'm surprised at how many think we have a democracy.
When you explain the differences they look at you dumbfounded.
Just for Jamil, I'll explain. It wasn't that the teacher didn't know the difference between C and A work. It's that he didn't know the difference between a democracy and a republic. Eventually he was forced to admit that he hadn't really understood the difference, and that annoyed him. So I got a C.Or, maybe the difference is less than you thought and it really was C work?
That wasn't what I alleged. There aren't many examples of direct democracies in the world now. So no one thinks that "democracy" refers to pure, direct, majority rule, democracy. Most of the democracies in the world are republics. There are a few are parliamentary monarchies that operate as democracies. Like GB, and Canada.Just for Jamil, I'll explain. "an important component of our republic: democratic representation."
Ok pal. Have a good day.
