I am looking for a set of tires for my 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 regular cab pick up truck P245/70R17 and figured this is the best place to get some honest information. Highway and city driving is all I do and looking for a great set without breaking the bank. Have found truck tires are more expensive than car tires with a budget of around $225.00 each is what I hope to spend.

I have a 94 Chevy 1500 truck i use as a farm truck now and i have 125,000 miles on a set of Michelins and still have plenty of tread left. They may cost a little more but they usually dry rot before they wear out.

I expect to have to replace a few sets for my vehicles this year.....

Probably not what you are looking for, but I will probably get some of these:

Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlars in 37x12.50R17 for the F250

The last set I put on were Firestone Transforce HTs.

They seen to be lasting well and are less expensive than your price range.

If you can swing $225 each just buy Michelins. They run true, they last a lot longer than anything else and in the long run cost you less than anything else.
I drive an F250 SD 4x4 it had Goodyear Wranglers when I got it I wore them out and bought another set that lasted about 40K then I bought a set of Michelins the traction is better the noise level is less, the ride is better and after 40K they are still at 50%. Do the math.

I've had BFG, Michelin, Goodyear, and Toyo on my Dodge. For the first 10k they all feel great. But, if you want longevity I would highly recommend Michelin. They keep that "new" feeling at least twice as long as the others. Sometimes an extra couple bucks can save ya quite a bit on the back end.

Personally, I would avoid MTR's like the plague. They are terrible when it comes to stopping on wet roads.

    .....
Ive got BFG AT TA-KO's on my F150, I like them, but a little steep in price (Im also running a 285/70/17). They did well through all the crap this winter, handle well in the horse pasture (mud/crap/wet crap).

We also have Cooper Discoverer's on my wife's Jeep, another great tire. Thats the second set weve had on there, and I will buy them again and again...

Do you tow? Heavy loads, anything like that or just regular driving and soforth.

I'll chime in for the Michelin Man, too. I replaced a set of Firestones on my last truck with Michelins. Much better traction in wet/snow/ice, much quieter, and lasted forever. I'll get another set on this truck once I wear out the stock tires. I think the tires were the Michelin LTX. Right at the top end of your budget.

After looking around for Michelins, found Sears has the best price on Friends And Family Night with four tires and alignment for less than NTB had for four tires only. Thanks for the ideas.
