When: Friday, Feb 8th
Time: 10a-12p (or until people decide to disband)
Where: South side of the Capitol building.
What: A peaceful gathering of Indiana's 2nd Amendment supporters.
Parking lot/garage info: Parking in Downtown Indianapolis
Legal Details:
(IANAL) We must stay to the public sidewalks (without blocking them) and obey the law (don't walk in the street; don't jam up crosswalks; don't block access to businesses; don't interfere with vehicular traffic etc). The Statehouse property is off limits to those possessing a firearm, LTCH or not. You do not need an Indiana LTCH to carry a long gun, however, it has been brought up that we are in the vicinity of a Gun Free Zone (Daycare Nursery, 100 N Senate Ave). Knowing this, if you decide to carry a long gun, and do not possess a valid Indiana LTCH, you do so at your own risk.
Event Details:
The Guns Across America event on Jan 19th went off with great success, but had minimal, and varied, coverage from local media. Hopefully, this event will obtain greater success and greater attention since the Capitol Building will be occupied.
Taking a cue from the Jan 19th rally, we will not be marching, but will instead be having a simple rally and meeting at the same location. Bring your friends, families, neighbors, signs, and conduct yourself in a respectable manner. Help us let our voices be heard.
Attendees are encouraged to carry their firearms. You may choose to carry any legally owned firearm you wish and are properly licensed to carry. It is requested that all long guns be slung in a safe direction (given that there are buildings of multiple floors adjacent to the rally point, muzzle down is preferred). Sidearms may be carried as you normally would (OC or CC) if properly licensed to do so. Please ensure they are in a safe condition and properly stored in a holster.
As representatives of the gun owner community being put in the spotlight, it will be IMPERATIVE for you to set a proper example of safe, law abiding gun owners. This is not the time to show off and pass around your firearms. The last thing we want is a negligent discharge and someone to end up in the hospital.
Also, please spell check your signs.
