If you had to choose only one gun for the rest of your life, no limitations except the destruction of every other firearm you have. What one gun would you keep, or aquire? Just humor the thread nay-sayers!:ar15:

    Mine: Rem 870

With 2 barrels this gun provides food, and protection. Can do the same with just 1 barrel!:patriot:

I'll vote for a Mossberg 500 being that protection is priority and with only one gun and heavy ammo I would hunker down or slowly evade or invade.

In Agreement here the 870 but at first I was thinking 22 along the lines of a 10/22 but after thinking about it a while the 870 is the better choice for self defense and putting meat on the table IMHO

I first thought of an M4 style AR15, but I think an Remington 870, Mossberg 500 or Winchester 1300 Defender might be more versatile. With all the different available loads, it can feed you or defend you.

Ok, don't hate on me for saying this, but I've ALWAYS loved the M249 SAW ever since I first put my hands on it back in the Corps. Now, this answer is coupled with the belief that if this was the ONLY gun I could ever have, that I'd be able to have ready access to ammo boxesw/belts whenever I needed them as well. :rockwoot: :biggun:

Since this post is not in the survival forum, I'm going to assume the context is not a TEOTWAWKI scenario. So, I'm assuming a scenario like life is right now and how it's been more or less all my life. (Although, it's easy to see from folks comments that others are coming from different contexts.)

Given that context, I'd have to say, "a handgun," because I use my handguns on a DAILY basis; FAR more than I use any of my long guns.

(This is different than I voted, btw, but I was thinking from a more survival context when I voted - which was for a semiauto rifle, btw.)

I will take my lever action 22LR. Looks meaty and mean enough to scare someone but can put food on your table and is very very reliable.

I agree that a shotgun would be best, but a revolver would be more fun to just shoot. Nothing better than the 870. Only difference is make mine a wingmaster cause the 870 express is to butt ugly to look at for the rest of your life.

I would have to go with a Mossberg 500 with multiple barrels, could never give up my late father 357 duty pistol. You're killing me with the thought of this question.

    It's a toss up between:

My PTR-91 .308 magazine fed semi-automatic for defense and limited hunting

    vs.

A Peter Hofer funfling combination gun for all hunting an limited defense (12 ga x 12 ga SxS with .375 H&H Magnum over .30-'06 over .22 Hornet)

    Probably the PTR-91.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. AR-15 with multiple uppers (5.56, 7.62, .458, .22, any pistol size available, etc.). You just have to make sure that they only think you have one upper though.

My vote is for my 870. With my rifled barrel and smooth barrel I can kill anything within 200 yards of me, and defend my home. I would miss everything else though.

Mag fed style with auto or semiauto cabilities (AR15, AK47)

If it came down to it, and for some reason i was only allowed to have one gun, then forget the rest of the "hunting" laws. I will slay deer with my AR15, no questions asked. As far as protection goes, my AR15 would be perfect for defense also.

I think I'd go with a PSG-1 with a registered Auto Sear from an MP5 to drop in it.

Not possible if memory serves me correctly. PSG-1 trigger packs are not made for these parts...

I'd have to go with my 11.5" suppressed AR15. IF I couldn't clean it, my '74.
