I have a thing for gadgets. I also have a thing for having things that nobody else has. There's a cool factor in having a "one of a kind" thing. Odly, one of my favorite old things is far from a "one of a kind". The old school angle neck 2-D cell Army flashlights. I've been retired since '09, but still have 3 of them. So... I decided to have one of them updated. Took it to my gunsmith. A gunsmith is basically a machinist right? Told him my idea, gave him my parts, and set him to work. Well, today, I picked it up. One old school angle neck Army flashlight with the guts of a Surefire E-2D LED Defender. Now after all these years (decades really) I have one that is bright as hell. And yes, it works off the original switch.
I'm loving it, and the weight is almost exactly like that of a standard 2-D cell light.
