Rhino you aren't the only person who had troubles with a Colt Officers Model 1911. About ten years ago, the little tab underneath the recoil spring plug sheared off and went downrange, along with the recoil spring. I finally ended up putting in a Clark Reverse Recoil Plug that you had to use a paper clip to capture the recoil spring to disassemble the pistol, which meant you needed a third hand. I got tired of that and sold the gun. I made up my mind that if I ever obtained another Colt 1911, it would be no smaller than a Commander.

The barrel length of an officer sized 1911 might be the source of why I've had very little trouble with my smaller 1911s. I figured that if I had a CCO, which stands for Concealed carry officer, that I had an officer sized 1911. But, the CCO is an officer sized frame under a commander sized slide. Whatever it is, it is also reliable.

I had a CCO for a while. Someone offered me more than I could turn down for it. It was going to be my go to for carrying.
Next up was a Les Baer Concept IX. That was one of the pistols I am most upset with myself for not owning any longer.
Then was Officers ACP #3, nice pistol but blah.
    Now the pistol shown above.

I thought about getting an officer's model 1911. Then I researched them. Just about everyone said don't do it. I went with a Shield 45 instead. It is reliable and basically the same size.
