what is difference between 5.56 and .223? will my gun shoot both? I have only put .223 through it though...
is it one of those things like brake fluid? if it takes and shoots .223 than it will shoot 5.56, but if its 5.56 it wont shoot .223???

No.
If the barrel of the rifle is stamped 5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde, you can shoot both.
The side of the rifle does not matter ... it's the barrel.
says nothing. lower says 5.56
As for 7.62/.308 there is no real difference, you can shoot both out of any chamber.
In case you didn't see it, thought it was worth sharing.

Now off to clean the dust in this room, must've got some in my eyes.
If you can't get them off with your bare hands, use the handles of channel locks around the delta ring. Most ARs can shoot 5.56, but check anyway.yea.. I had the hand grips off once, without the tool its a PITA.. Ill wait and just continue with .223
Careful with that ... it's all about headspacing, primer seating, etc.
What's the difference between .308 Win and 7.62 NATO?
