You inferiority complex is hanging out again. When I say "police" I am not referring to individual officers buying things for themselves. I'm referring to the agencies.
It's f****** b******* that police departments are in any way permitted to buy ANYTHING that I am not allowed to buy.
And if you think it's okay, I hate your guts with an absolute passion from the bottom of my heart.
No worries...When it comes to PR he seems to not hold back. As far APCs, hard to say. Being on the boarder and the size of that county, I am sure he has a couple as do other agencies in the area.
As has been said, there is far more tracked armorer and artillery pieces in the hands of collectors than the police. If you can afford it and afford to feed it, go for it.

Pull up your zipper next time....
You can buy anything that the LEO's can buy. What I said goes for you too.
Anybody that thinks it's just fine that we citizens aren't allowed the same firearms as the police is a feeble, lackluster excuse for a freedom-loving American. I have no respect for them, and I wouldn't urinate in their mouths if their stomachs were on fire.
Yes and no....You can buy anything that the LEO's can buy.
You just need the money.
Yup!Yes and no....
I can buy everything that LEOs can purchase except what is bought under the Dept Letterhead...
Agree. However, it is best that we keep in mind that this was done through law/statute, by those who make laws, in a place where laws are made. It is toward those that any anger should be focused, and on that location that our efforts be directed and channeled in order to rectify what should not have been permitted. My only complaint is that the police can buy NEW machine guns at new machine gun prices, when I cannot. *I* have to pay out the nose for something that's over 25 years old. THAT should never have been permitted under ANY circumstances.
While I agree with the part about it being BS, PDs being permitted to is usually done through statute, by those who make statutes, in a place where such are made. When I say "police" I am not referring to individual officers buying things for themselves. I'm referring to the agencies.

This is, for distant initial conversation between (all but) strangers, often as good as it gets.If you can afford it and afford to feed it, go for it.
While I appreciate your zeal and share the same - expressed differently - it is far more conducive to constructive dialogue when we have met others in person, if only briefly. Acknowledging that this is not always possible, it should be kept in mind that often police officers are not so different, yet are placed in positions and circumstances that might influence their viewpoints. We have less chance of seeing what they've seen, or knowing what they know, if we approach them in a hostile manner. It might be the case that we are polar opposites with irreconcilable differences, or it may turn out, as I've found on occasion, that we do adhere to the same basic tenets, with occasional caveats here and there. This is at least something to build on.Anybody that thinks it's just fine that we citizens aren't allowed the same firearms as the police is a feeble, lackluster excuse for a freedom-loving American. You mean Reagan? Automatic weapons were regulated in 1986.Yup!
That would be the stuff that Mr Clinton managed to take off the open market.
However any of the really expensive pre ban stuff can be bought if the right amount of money is presented.
I know of a couple of private security agencies that have some amazing armored vehicles outfitted with some really impressive firepower that they routinely sell to wealthy clients.
The only difference between me and them is the amount of money available to buy those items.

Yup...
My mistake.
I got my gun bans mixed up
Reagans biggest mistake.
