Hi I am David. I am 32 and have been shooting since I was 6yr. I was brought up in a family of hunters and gun collectors, so I have been around gun my whole life. My uncle had his FFL license during the 80's, so I was exposed to anything from black powder guns to semi-auto military guns. I have 3 daughters that I am trying to expose to guns like when I was growing up. I am trying to teach them that guns are not toys and that they are dangerous when handled in an unsafe manner. I already have my 7 and 5 year old reminding me everytime I go to handle a gun whether it is to clean it or going to shoot to always treat it as if it is loaded. I am proud of them when I hear them say that it lets me know they are listening. I have already got a call from my 8 year school because there " My dad said guns don't kill people, idiots with guns kill people". I guess they didn't appreciate it, but I got a good laugh out of it. My wife never shot a gun in her life up until my uncle and I were shooting one day, after that first shot she turned around and said " That was fun! Can I shoot again?". Now she has her on shotgun and soon her on 1911. I was suprized when she wanted to shoot my uncles .458 Winchester Mag. Her and I watch Sons of Guns and now she wants to shoot an NFA gun. I have created a monster. This is a great site and glad I found it.

:welcome: and good for you in teaching your youngsters the right way to treat a firearm. I'd wear that chastizing phone call from your son's school on my chest like a badge of honor! That's awesome!!

Welcome from Wabash. It's great that you are teaching your kids the proper use of guns. Some day it will be valuable knowledge.
