It is not a user, just a conversation piece and more then anything, it was a learning exprriance for me. I picked a scrap piece of Pyrowear #53 tool steel out of the scrap bin at work and decided to learn the process of making a knife. Probably not the best steel for a knife so I did not waste the money to have it heat treated.
    Blade: Pyrowear #53 tool steel
    Thickness: 3/16"
    Scales: rosewood
    Fasteners: copper corby bolts
    Blade length 3 1/8"
    OAL: 7 1/16"
All polished to a mirror finish.

I kind of took ideas from several knives that I like the look of and put them all into one package.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, it the best I could do.

Looks good!!!!!! get some 1095 or something else thats not $$$$ and go for it. Good stuff man, way to go

Funny that you would say that, I just bought 300 lbs of D2 today that I plan to make a bunch of knives out of. I got a killer deal on the D2 at work.

Anyone local who does reputable heat treating?

use Peter's Heat Treat. HT is the single MOST IMPORTANT PART of making a knife. they have fantastic prices, fantastic service, and know what they are doing. ship your stuff in a USPS flat rate box, and use a professional. its worth the extra trouble to KNOW what the knife is RC'd to. to YOUR specs in a REPEATABLE manner, by guys who CARE and stand behing their work as much as you do!
