I also snapped a few pictures of the new weaponlight setup.

how do you like that brown color? I like it but wish they made other parts in the same color.

If it was any lighter I wouldn't like it. But its dark enough that it blends in with black furniture. I would still probably prefer if the rail was black, but I do like how it stands out now.

Thinking of lightening up my 16" gun, and one way I could is with the light arrangement. Any reason you chose a smaller traditional light and mount vs. say a pistol light like a TLR1S, etc.?

    Location and positioning.

I tried a TLR-1 early on and didn't care for it. The only way for me to activate it, given the way I shoot, was to mount it on TOP of the rail upside down. This might work ok on a 16" gun with an extended rail, but not so much on an SBR when I also need to put a front BUIS somewhere.

The PT1L/VTAC combo puts the light right where I need it, and even offers some protection from my hand slipping forward of the muzzle.

    Good to know, thanks!

    Very small update.

I called the ATF today and got my pending date of 11-23-11. I've pretty much put this project out of my mind while I wait. I've been focusing mainly on my M&P project to keep me busy.

just to catch me up, what is it you are doing/waiting on for the lower?

Is it the lower that has to be registered to have a SBR upper on it? Or is it a full auto thing?
