Several years ago, I got my permit, practiced up, then several weeks later, took the riding test. No muss, no fuss.

As to the OP issue, why can't he just renew the same month the permit expires, just a few days before it does?

I rode a long time with out proper credentials as I was a bit miffed I could not grandfather in due to years and years of riding. Well, I decided to make it right, got the beginners and spent the required time. Scheduled the test. Took the test on a full sized Harley FXR and "Aced" the damn thing.

OP....I was wrong and made it right. Schedule and take the test.

Thanks! It actually is a job I do like, I also said I signed up a few pages back. =D

I'm scheduled for late may early June in Lafayette, I chose there because I have a friend that lives in town so easy lodging and minimal travel. :D
