My Father "borrowed" my 1911A, web belt, holster and 2 spare mags in a 1917 case. Cleaned the gun to become re- trained(USN vet WW2), and carried in a Shasta for CCW. He traveled all over the west: deserts, mountains, and assorted highways. Never needed it, only kept handy when sleeping, and returned it upon the finish of a 6 month vacation. Had a flat tire once, and actually had a Nevada State Trooper assist in the change. He didn't want a Hell's Angel or other wannabe to rob him on the road, as he was 63 yrs old.
Laws? Plenty. Probably broke a few, not knowing all the different states. He did separate the ammo, from the gun, and secured the gun in a locking box, till needed.
Never lost any sleep worrying about the gun.
When parked, he considered it his home, rolling was a vehicle.
