Got an offer from a coworker whos trying to sell his Marlin 444p. He wants $400 for it and is pretty set on that price. I blue booked it and I think hes asking a little much but my blue book is a couple years old. Any ideas on a fair price for this gun? How easy is .444 ammo to find. Or should I just pass?

Bass Pro has stocked Marlin .444 ammo (Hornady LeveRevolution) for the past year. They always seem to have a few boxes on hand.

Edit: by "stocked" I mean on the shelf.

OP, do some research on the gun and caliber before you jump into this. I think I sense some hesitance(other than price) to purchase. Make sure you want it and are willing to feed it/have a purpose. Otherwise you may feel as though you "wasted" your money and resell the weapon.

I would buy it at that price. The Marlin .444 is a great cartridge with the new ammo available. The "P" version was only produced for a couple of years. It can't be used for deer hunting in Indiana but it will be a lot of fun to shoot.

That's a good price if it is in good shape. The "P" is not very common. I will say with that short ported barrel it is very loud! Something else to consider, it's not cheap to feed but easy to reload.
