Just like a medieval house! Bubonic plague, anyone?Walk away from it for a week and it will be FULL of mice. When you get back.
Reminds me of some of the sketch builds on YT. Shows one or two guys slogging out a build by hand. But at certain points of the video, you can see heavy equipment tracks surrounding the build.I respect the effort and skills. Shows what a man is capable of (assuming it was just one). Thatched roof always looks like kindling, with an open flame beneath it drying it out. Keep the fire small.
We have hazelnut bushes up north. Nice straight stems the size of your thumb. I like the dead ones as kindling.Note how the whole structure is dependent on hazel (plant).
Truly a wonder plant in Northern Europe — used for construction, fishing rods, nuts were a major source of dietary fats year-round, leaves and bark many medicinal uses. Not a hardwood, just a lowly bush.
Do you know what kind? American or European? (American has super thick shell and almost no meat, European is what we buy in stores). We have hazelnut bushes up north. Nice straight stems the size of your thumb. I like the dead ones as kindling.
I do not. I'll try to remember to look in a couple weeks. I know my grandma harvested them many years ago.Do you know what kind? American or European? (American has super thick shell and almost no meat, European is what we buy in stores).
