I'm on a slow build up to a build on a racegun M&P, I got my base gun now, Got the trigger down to 3lbs, have my scope mount and scope but here are the things that I'm investigating/thinking/looking for.

I need to get my trigger reset travel fixed, to long now, Is anyone making aftermarket parts or mods to fix that.

Is anyone making an extended barrel and Comp for them.

wouldn't mind finding a good set of backup iron sights for it

    Mag well out there yet?

    Post your links and thoughts.

I did an unlimited gun...looked at the M&P but went with Glock because of parts availability. Will be interested to see how your build turns out. Please post follow ups including where the parts come from...I may make a change...lol.

My Glock is comped with a Burris Fastfire, 3 pound disconnector with a real NY1 spring.

Excuse my ignorance what is the purpose of the comp?

I know of compensated barrels and understand the idea behind them (I even own a Glock 24C). I have seen compensators on 1911 race guns but how does that differ from just extending the barrel beyond the slide and slotting it or having a cutout in an extended slide?

    Thanks

Believe it or not the expansion chambers of a comp are specifically designed to redirect the gases from the powder. The better the design the less muzzle flip. These are so effective the one on my Glock requires major loads to function the slide with a factory spring. Generic 115's will not function.

There is some good info on the open gun that Dan built in the following thread.

The trigger reset will depend on the shape of the ear on the sear that contacts the trigger bar. With the slide off, pull the trigger back, push the trigger bar into disconnect mode, and slowly let it forward until it slips back under the sear. This will show what part of the ear is preventing the trigger to reset. Depending on the trigger job you may or may not be able to take some material off the ear to shorten the reset. In general, the reset on m&p's with trigger jobs are short and you probably can't improve it too much.

I can offer no specifics as far as parts. But I have held an M & P pro with a trigger job that Neil Keller had done and it was sweet. Light (less than 2 pounds) and very little if any take up or slack. Amazing things can be done to those triggers. The down side is he does not work for just anybody any longer.
