I just got a full size M&P9 with no safeties, no mag disconnect. I've been wanting one for a while and finally snagged a deal.
The ergonomics of this gun really make it comfortable. The backstraps are interchangable to help make it a comfortable grip. Very smooth gun to shoot. The stock trigger is a little gritty but I don't seem to mind.
Very nice gun IMO. I shot the XD in 9mm as well and felt that the perceived recoil was a bit more harsh but that's just my opinion.
If you plan on carrying at all, you should plan on concealment. While it is fully legal to OC, it still freaks people out, and they will call 911 MWAG in a heartbeat. Many cops will try and harass you or cuff you and confiscate your weapon out of ignorance. That is just the reality, especially after the Aurora and Sandy Hook murders.
I'm not saying you can't conceal a full size pistol, because obviously you can, and you may choose to. But shaving a couple inches off the length off the barrel and grip really makes it easier. Me personally, I carry always, even in my house, and the M&P9C with a really good IWB holster like the King Tuk helps tremendously. Plan on spending $75 at least for a good holster.
You, sir, are obviously a man of strong opinions. What you fail to understand is that personal perception = reality for each individual. Especially on something as personal as the choice of a personal protection weapon. You're welcome to your opinions. You are not welcome to assume you can make them my opinions. I liked my XD. My sister in law likes her M&P. I like my CZ75 better than both of them.
Ain't freedom wonderful?
