The book has been a good read, and does much to explain how we arrived at where we are today.

That today's executive went to great lengths in his inauguration to compare himself to Lincoln is somewhat telling.

seriously tho, the guy was a monster who couldn't tolerate political dissent. He laid the groundwork for Wilson, the Roosevelts, the Bushes, and Obama.

Hamiltons Curse was a better read, though I enjoyed both his tomes on Lincoln, even if there was some repition.

Read "The Real Lincoln" and that was a good book. Took all the shine his apologists put on him off. Di Lorenzo is pretty good. Going to have to read the Hamilton book sometime, too.
