How about the .444 that marlin rifles use?
I know a guy that does just that! Showed it to the local C/O and asked him about it! He said it legal!Has anyone thought about trimming a .460 Smith & Wesson cartridge down to 1.62" and using a Thompson Center Encore?
What about the 6.8? I've been thinking of buying an upper chambered in that caliber.
Funny, we were talking about this in my Wildlife Management class, taught by a long time CO.I can't figure out why they restrict the deer hunting cartridges so much, but don't put any limitations at all on what you can use to harvest squirrel?
NO. That is only a 28 caliber bullet, legal minimum is 35 caliber.
YOU HOUSIERS ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE THE DEER RIFLE LAWS YOU HAVE. I HUNT DEER HERE IN OHIO WITH A .375 WIN. 19 " BBL ENCORE HANDGUN. IT'S LEGAL, BUT IF I CLIP A STOCK ON FOR MORE ACCURACY, NOT ALLOWABLE. WHAT KINDS OF PEOPLE ENACT THESE IDIOT LAWS THAT SHOW LACK OF COMMON SENSE ? WAKE UP AMERICA ,IT'S 2011. I REPEAT YOUR DEER RIFLE CALIBERS I WOULD BE FERY HAPPY WITH. OHIO -----WHAT'S WRONG ????????
Are there any new additions to these calibers. The IDNR website is not at all clear on the laws.
Thanks
I think the changes they are discussing will go into effect next year if they are approved. this year will not change
I sure hope you're wrong Vette! I was really looking forward to the idea of a combined archery/muzzle loader/firearm license this year. Oh well... I guess patience is going to have to work for waiting for the bureaucracy as well as for waiting for the deer themselves!

Is the .308 legal for deer when shot from a hand gun such as a savage striker?
