TO be reasonably safe on the sale, let him go get his carry permit. It's a great background check without the NICS system. And then you aren't getting sent to jail for selling a gun to a known fellon. Just happened last month with the guy that had the stand off and shot a cop in southern indiana.
Completely unnecessary.
If you don't have any reasonable cause to believe they are a felon or otherwise prohibited, you're fine.
There is no legal requirement to check and no requirement for him to have the LTCH to purchase a handgun from you.

How many people do you know that hit the weed, or are an alcoholic or maybe mentally defective? I'm just saying to err on the side of safety, do it with someone that has a permit. There are alot of people in my life that have a hidden history from me. The pink piece of paper is a great way to know what is really going on behind the scenes. There's plenty of potheads and alcoholics that get busted with guns bought from a private citizen and then they are hemmed up. But, you reasonably believe anything you want dude.
Yes, but the buyer must be from Indiana for a private sale. If it is out-of-state, it has to go through an FFL.
It can't go through an ffl if the buyer is from out of state and age 18.
