It shouldn't be an issue, but I feel one reason they went full retard is because at the time my hair was down to my shoulders and pulled back and I was wearing a Slayer tshirt. I have since cut my hair back to mil-spec just because I am sick and tired of the way people look at me (that and a job) so I think when I go talk to the chief I might just go up there in my class A's and really make em think.
I talked to the video store, no camera pointed out there. The way the cops cars were parked I'm pretty sure they aren't on their dashcams. So it's my word against theirs. I don't care about monetary crap, I just want these guys to know that myself and every other legal carrier of weapons refuse to be pushed around by cops who interpret guns laws.
Thanks for all the support, I really do think an OC day would get the point across. I'll let ya know how it goes, I'm going to talk to the chief or a lackey on Monday!
I know the LPD guys don't carry body mics but I am most definitely going in there with my class A's. Did it at my first divorce hearing and it worked in my favor hehehe. I wouldn't have been so freakin mad if they would have just routinely pulled me over, explained why I was being stopped, and then asked to see my LTCH and firearm. But they went full 'tard and now I have to squeeze my civilian behind back into my uniform, all in all it shoul be an enjoyable monday!
See now Im going to have to buy an OWB holster for Saturday when Im in Indy for UFC 119. I always carry concealed but have oft wondered what would happen if I were to OC. I would have filed the complaint by now AND called local media, a lawyer and Family Video. This is exactly why the public dont trust or respect police.
We're not all like that... There are a handful of jackasses in every industry, everywhere. Unfortunately, people remember the bad encounters before the good encounters.
If you think hearing about the D-bags that pull these stunts that are borderline unconstitutional is bad, you should try working with them.
This story pisses me off too, but I urge you to consider two things:
As a general rule, the police are not against you or your rights.
And, in this instance, we are only hearing one side of the story. There are always two sides. In my experience, the "absolute truth" lies somewhere in the middle.

A significant distinction is that the handful of jackasses in other industries don't usually have guns and/or arrest powers, so it's a little easier to overlook their transgressions.

If you ~assume~ the truth is somewhere "in the middle," aren't you already assuming that you're dealing with a liar?
