In this video, Yeager says he doesn't like .40S&W because it is a high-pressure round. 10mm and .357 Magnum are high pressure rounds, not the .40S&W. I'm not a reloader so maybe I need some help here, but looking up the data both 9mm and .40S&W are loaded to 35,000 PSI SAAMI.
Also, 9mm NATO is 10% above industry standard, or 38,500 PSI.
If Yeager is worried about 180gr. bullets being too deeply seated occasionally (manufacturing variance) and causing over-pressure (just taking a guess, he never states that), wouldn't the solution be to go to 165gr. rounds which give more headroom (and which is probably a better choice for .40S&W anyway)?
He complains that .40S&W is a compromise round, but everything is a trade-off. We could carry a single stack .45ACP but the trade-off is less rounds. We could carry a double stack .45ACP but the trade-off is the large grip. We could carry a 9mm because we like the softer recoil, but the trade-off is a smaller diameter bullet. We could carry a .357 Magnum but the trade off is it is a revolver with its inherent characteristics (less rounds, slower reload). Every choice is a compromise.
Heck, a pistol is a compromise over a rifle. It is the least lethal firearm we have.
