He is a typical Congressman who has been there too long. They believe the laws do not apply them. They are the lawgivers. Only the little people have to obey.

But Charlie knows that the laws really DO NOT APPLY to him. He's a sacred cow, a long-tenured black Congressman. He could sacrifice an infant on the Capitol steps and get away with it.

    NO, Charlie will get off.

They Democrats delayed this trial until after the election so they would not be held up for scrutiny on their votes. Then when the GOP swept the election and took the majority the GOP announced that Rangel would be tried when they took over power. So the Dems, helping out one of their senior (but very corrupt) leaders, opened the LAME DUCK session with the Rangel trial so they could slap his hand with a ruler and make him promise to be a good boy in the future, but find him innocent of any real criminal charges.

Realize that during the lame duck session the Democrats are still in control of the House and will control this so-called trial.

Rangel has been a racist and a thief for more than 40 years and nobody has so much as batted an eye..

I'd like to know why Congress suddenly became interested in his criminal lifestyle?

I wonder if any of this will turn into a criminal investigation or just stay an ethics investigation.

    .
Rangel is just the figurehead of whatever machine has kept him in power. Like Chris Dodd, his machine, read powerful lobby/law firms, are no doubt discussing his options with him now. He will get a wrist slap and no doubt retire soon. Machines like a smooth transition of the figurehead.

The news story pretty much summed it up: Most likely sanction he would get is a Congress vote "deploring his conduct". A slap on the wrist that the media will forget in 2 news cycles and the People forgetting when they change the channel and a particularly interesting movie with **** and explosions is on... Congress and government cronyism protects their own...

Grand schemes and horrible actions like his for people of his "level" never see a REAL court. It would have to be a jury of his peers and only scum can judge scum in a system such as that.

Riles me up to think that money that can be used for programs, paying down the deficit or helping an unemployed family is spent for campaigning people like this. Expensive trips, horrible spending practices and other "crimes" against the People need a different system of justice, yes, but one of our own, prosecuted by the People when the People have been wronged, not Congress cronies. Of course, the only reason Rangle is on the line is that he was caught. I would hate to open the books on others' deliberate crimes against US!
