I just throw my license and registration out the window. And while they're not looking at me / walking back to their car, I peel out and drive away at a moderately high rate of speed.

Then I pull over and stop within a quarter mile...then ask the officer what took him so long.

I recommend yelling, "AM I BEING DETAINED?" when I say "Hello, how are you doing?" at the local food establishment. It works well.
